Job Title: Principal Chemical Engineer
Job Duties:
Zaiput Flow Technologies, LLC is an MIT spin out company launched to bring innovative continuous tools for chemical processing to the batch and flow markets. Zaiput Flow Technologies, LLC in Waltham, Massachusetts is seeking a Principal Chemical Engineer to Lead chemical engineering R&D efforts to improve current products, as well as develop new products.
Job responsibilities and duties include:
• Lead the scale up efforts of Zaiput’s innovative continuous reactor for heterogenous catalysis
• Collaborate with upper management on product strategy and management of company’s new reactor product line
• Lead the development of an AI-based automated machine to optimize liquid-liquid extraction processes
• Manage, train, and hire younger engineers and chemists to carry out chemical experiments to validate, further demonstrate and test company’s current and future products
• Responsible for lab management, including lab instrumentation, chemicals procurement and storage, waste control, and lab safety
• Work with customers and production team to design and validate Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) for custom installations of Zaiput’s large scale products
• Supervise customer technical support (chemical) and identify ways to improve and ease technology adoption
• Supervise and help with the development and scale up of a new continuous crystallizer, as well as reaching out to universities or other labs for potential crystallization project collaborations
• Lead new chemical processing technology R&D projects from concept to commercialization
• Perform Research & Development studies from a chemical engineering standpoint, which could lead to the company’s possibility of designing new devices that could be used in the chemical industry
• Collaborate with production and mechanical design team on the specification requirements, development, validation of new products
• Identify and suggest to the company new opportunities or unmet needs in the chemical industry
• Identify areas of improvement for the company and lead the related improvement efforts
This position supervises 1-7employees.
Requirements
Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation in which experience was gained.
Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency and knowledge with the following:
• HPLC
• Matlab
• Solidworks
• Comsol
• Aspen
• Labview
**Fundamentals of Engineering Certification required**
